DeKALB, Ill. - The Northern Illinois University Huskies will take on Georgia Tech in Atlanta on September 25, 2021, the two schools announced Thursday.
 
The two teams will meet for the first time, and the game will be the first for the Huskies against a Football Bowl Subdivision opponent from the state of Georgia. NIU is 2-8 against teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference all-time and played an ACC opponent in each of the past four seasons.
 
NIU and Nebraska also announced that they have moved their 2021 game at Nebraska to the 2027 season.The fourth game in the series between the school will now be played on Sept. 4, 2027 at Memorial Stadium. The Huskies defeated Nebraska in Lincoln in 2017 and dropped a 44-8 decision to the Cornhuskers earlier this season. NIU and Nebraska will also meet in Lincoln in 2023.
 
The Huskies' 2021 non-conference schedule now features home games versus Maine (Sept. 4) and Wyoming (Sept. 11) and games at Michigan (Sept. 18) and Georgia Tech (Sept. 25).
 
The 2019 NIU Huskies open their Mid-American Conference title defense this weekend when they play host to Ball State in the Battle for the Bronze Stalk. Kickoff is at 2:30 p.m. at Huskie Stadium and the game can be seen on ESPN3.
