Huskies Head to Iowa State for First Road Game

DEKALB, Ill. -- The Northern Illinois University men's basketball team goes on the road for the first time this season as the Huskies travel to Ames, Iowa, to meet Iowa State on Tuesday, November 11. Tipoff against Cyclones is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on Cyclones.TV as well as on radio on WLBK in DeKalb and WIND in Chicago. 

NIU heads to Iowa State after dropping its season opener against Northern Iowa this past Saturday (Nov. 9), 64-54. Senior Eugene German (Gary, Ind./21st Century Charter) scored a game-high 21 points, his 41st career 20-plus point game, while senior Lacey James (Grand Rapids, Mich./Rider) grabbed a game-best 10 rebounds.

Sophomore Trendon Hankerson (Novi, Mich./Novi) scored nine points and grabbed five rebounds in the contest against the Panthers, tying career highs in both categories. 

The Cyclones have a 1-1 overall record after dropping an 80-74 decision at Oregon State on Saturday (Nov. 9). Rasir Bolton scored a team-high 16 points for Iowa State in the contest while Tyrese Haliburton added 15 points and 12 assists. Michael Jacobson leads Iowa State in scoring through two games this season with 14.5 points per game. Jacobson is also averaging a team-best 9.0 rebounds per game. 

Iowa State leads the all-time series against NIU, 5-2, with the home team willing all seven previous meetings. The most recent meeting between the Huskies and Cyclones was a 94-80 Iowa State victory on Dec. 4, 2017. NIU led that contest, 38-36, at halftime before Iowa State shot 61.1 percent (22-of-36) from three-point range, including 60 percent (9-of-15) from three, to claim the victory.

Following Tuesday's game, NIU will return home on Friday, November 15, when the Huskies host Coppin State.
