DeKALB, IL – The Northern Illinois University women's basketball team begins a seven-game road trip on Sunday with a 1 p.m. tip-off at North Dakota State.
The Huskies have won both of the previous meetings with the Bison, including last season's 81-63 win at the NIU Convocation Center.
Courtney Woods (Brisbane, Australia/St. Margaret's) led the Huskies with 25 points as
Mikayla Voigt added 17.
NIU (0-1) dropped its season opener on Tuesday to the Harvard Crimson 59-53 at the Convocation Center on Education Day. Woods led NIU with 22 points, scoring 17 in the second half. The Huskies outscored the Crimson 29-20 in the second half but could not overcome a 15-point halftime deficit after shooting 22.1 percent from the field.
Woods' 22-point effort Tuesday was her 29
th career 20-point game. In 18 November games in her career, Woods has averaged 20.7 points per game with nine 20-point efforts. She has had at least one 30-point game in November in each of the last two seasons.
North Dakota State (0-1) opened its season Wednesday night with a 95-63 loss at Northern Iowa. Michelle Gaislerova led the Bison with 15 points as Ryan Cobbins added 12 points. NDSU was picked to finish seventh in the Summit League preseason poll after a 7-22 season in 2018-19.
NIU is back on the road on Sunday, November 17 for a 1 p.m. game at Colorado State.
