CLEVELAND -- Freshman
David Pata (Bucharest, Romania/Emil Racovita) and junior
Bor Schweiger Muzar (Crnomelj, Slovenia/Gimnm) of the Northern Illinois University men's tennis team were named the Mid-American Conference Doubles Team of the Week, announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
The Huskie tandem swept a pair of matches this past weekend, topping Adrian Mag and Aviv Ben Shabat of Butler, 6-3, on Saturday (Feb. 23) before earning a 6-1 win over Green Bay's Dipin Wadhwa and Charlie Crozford on Sunday (Feb. 24). The pair of matches were just the second and third played by Pata and Muzar as a duo this season as they improved to 2-1.
Pata and Muzar's honor is the third MAC Doubles Team of the Week honor for the Huskies this season. Senior
Eric Marbach (Naperville, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) and sophomore
Kristopher Ortega (Home Glen, Ill./Seton Home Study School) claimed the award on January 23 and February 6.
NIU is currently 8-5 on the season and has two more non-conference matches scheduled, against Valparaiso (March 9) and Youngstown State (March 10) in Orlando, Fla., before opening conference play against Western Michigan on March 16.
