GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Northern Illinois University women's team scored a 7-0 victory over Green Bay at the Western Racquet and Fitness Sunday.
"Overall, I am happy with the way we finished the weekend," said NIU head coach Tanya Mahefu. "I thought we stepped it up in our second match of the weekend. We're looking forward to a competitive weekend ahead."
After taking the doubles point, the Huskies (2-2) shutout the Phoenix (0-2) in four of 10 sets in singles play.
Christy Robinson (Wellington New Zealand/Samuel Marsden Collegiate School) shutout Tallie Piaskowski in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4 singles. Freshman Fernanda Naves (Mexico City, Mexico) won her match at No. 6 singles, 8-0. Brodie Walker (Bristol, England/Bristol Grammar School) took No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-2.
The Huskies return to action Friday when NIU plays host to Bradley at the Boylan Tennis Center. The match begins at 12 p.m. CT.
