ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University women's team scored a 5-2 setback to Bradley at the Boylan Tennis Center in Rockford Friday.
The Huskies (2-3) took the doubles point, winning all three matches. Unfortunately, Bradley responded in singles play, winning five of the six matches.
Freshman Julia Dmitrieva (Smolensk, Russia/Smolensk) posted the lone Huskie win on the day, defeating Nina Marajanovic in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 5 singles. Fellow freshman Fernanda Naves (Mexico City, Mexico) battled at No. 6 singles, winning the second set, 7-5, but eventually fell, 7-5, 5-7, 6-1 to Nikki Perlwitz.
The Huskies return to the court Sunday when NIU plays host to North Dakota at the Boylan Tennis Center. The match begins at 10 a.m. CT.
