ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University women's team fell to Ball State, 7-0, in the season finale at the Boylan Tennis Center Sunday.
The Huskies (5-15, 0-7), who were down three starters from their lineup for the second straight week, lost the doubles point, and were unable to secure a victory in singles play.
Paula Veyhle (Stuttgart, Germany) put up a battle at No. 2 singles. After dropping the first match, 6-2, the Huskie freshman took the second set, 6-4. However, she lost the third set, 10-8.
"We close our season with our heads held high," said NIU head coach Tanya Mahefu. "It's been tough with injuries, but we have a few months for us to get better and come back stronger with having learned from this experience."
