Eugene German (Gary, Ind./21st Century Charter) scored a team-high 17 points against the Zips and has 1,913 career points, just 83 behind NIU's all-time leading scorer T.J. Lux (1995-2000; 1,996 points). German is averaging 20.2 points per game, continuing to lead the MAC while also ranking 23rd in the nation.
Freshman
Tyler Cochran (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) also scored in double figures with 10 points against Akron. Over the last six games, Cochran is averaging 7.3 points per game while shooting 63 percent (17-of-27) from the field.
The Huskies will be making their sixth trip to Bowling Green's Stroh Center, which opened during the 2011-12 season. NIU is 2-3 in its previous five games in the building, alternating wins and losses in its first five visits.
Bowling Green has a 12-5 overall record, including a 3-1 mark in MAC play. The Falcons are 7-1 at home this season with their lone blemish coming against Kent State (79-61) in their conference opener (Jan. 3). Justin Turner leads three Falcons in double figures with 17.9 points per game. Dylan Frye adds 14.5 points per contest while Daeqwon Plowden is averaging 13.2 points per game.
The Falcons lead the MAC, and rank sixth nationally, in turnovers per game, committing just 10.6 per contest.
Following Saturday's contest, the Huskies will remain in Ohio as they visit Kent State on Tuesday night, January 21. Tipoff against the Golden Flashes is slated for 6 p.m. CT and will be available on ESPN+.
