KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior Eugene German (Gary, Ind./21st Century Charter) of the Northern Illinois University men's basketball team has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 14 First Team, announced by the organization on Monday (March 23). NABC teams have been voted on by member coaches within each district, the Mid-American Conference is represented as District 14. 

The leading scorer in the MAC this season, German averaged 20.5 points per game which also ranked 24th nationally. The Gary, Ind., native scored in double figures in all 31 games during the 2019-20 season, including 19 games with 20-plus points. German also grabbed 4.1 rebounds per contest and ranked in the top-15 in the MAC with 2.7 assists per game while earned MAC West Division Player of the Week five times. 

In his career, German scored 2,203 points, becoming NIU's all-time leading scorer and the first Huskie men's basketball player to eclipse the 2,000-point plateau. He also finished fifth in MAC history in scoring, just eight points behind Earl Boykins of Eastern Michigan (1995-98, 2,211 points) for fourth all-time. German scored in double figures a remarkable 108 times in 125 career games, with 59 20-plus point games during his four seasons as a Huskie. 

Earlier this month, the Huskie senior guard was named to the All-MAC First Team, becoming just the third three-time All-MAC performer in school history, joining Paul Dawkins (1977, '78, '79) and Allen Rayhorn (1980, '81, '82). 

German, who was a first team All-District selection as a sophomore in 2017-18 and a second team honoree last season, becomes the first three-time NABC All-District recipient in program history. Jim Bradley (1972, '73) and Xavier Silas (2010, '11) each earned NABC All-District recognition twice during their Huskie careers.
