NIU Wraps Up Regular Season At Toledo Saturday

DeKALB, IL – The Northern Illinois University women's basketball team wraps up the regular season Saturday afternoon when it takes on the Toledo Rockets at 1 p.m. CT at Savage Arena.
 
The game will be available on ESPN3 and broadcast locally on WLBK 98.9 FM and 1360 AM.
 
NIU (10-18, 6-11 MAC) is coming off a 70-62 win over Ball State Wednesday night at the NIU Convocation Center. The Huskies shot 42.4 percent from the field and held the Cardinals to 35.7 percent. NIU also outrebounded Ball State 50-42.
 
Courtney Woods (Brisbane, Australia/St. Margaret's) led NIU with 20 points and 11 rebounds against Ball State, her fourth double-double of the season and 20th of her career. She also tied a career-high with four steals. Woods had 13 points in the second half, nine of which came in the third quarter to help build a 54-46 Huskies lead.
 
When Woods takes the floor Saturday she will pass Angela Lockett (1990-95) for the most games played in NIU women's basketball history with 129. On December 19, Woods became NIU's all-time leader in three-pointers made and has 319 entering Saturday's game at Toledo. She also holds the NIU single-season three-point field goals record with 105 in the 2016-17 season. Woods is second on the NIU career scoring list with 2,162 career points.
 
Toledo (12-16, 7-10 MAC) snapped a six-game losing streak Wednesday night with a 76-67 win over Central Michigan. Quinesha Lockett had 18 points and eight rebounds as Mariella Santucci also had 18 points with seven rebounds and six assists. The Rockets committed just nine turnovers in the game and forced 14. Nakiah Black leads Toledo in scoring at 11.7 points per game. As a team the Rockets are averaging 66.1 points per game and allowing 67.5.
 
The Huskies will be on the road in the first round of the MAC Tournament on Monday, March 9. Game time and opponent will be determined Saturday.
