NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Northern Illinois University women's team dropped a doubleheader at Notre Dame at the Eck Tennis Pavilion on Tuesday.
 
"This was a good start to our season," said NIU head coach Eric Burns. "We competed very well in both matches and fought extremely hard. We had our chances in several matches and even some of the matches that were lopsided were much more competitive than the score indicated. It's early in the season but this was a positive start. We have to keep building on this at Cincinnati on Saturday."
 
NIU lost the first match of the day, 7-0, before suffering a 5-0 setback in the nightcap.
 
Senior Maria Potsi and freshman Anastasia Rakita stood out for the Huskies as each captured a set at No. 1 and No. 2 singles in the first match of the day. Potsi took the first set of her match, 6-4, while Rakita took the second set, 6-3.
 
The Huskies return to the action Sunday when they will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to face Cincinnati. Match is set to begin at 11 a.m. CT.
