DEKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois University wrestler
Brit Wilson earned Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week honors following his performance at the 2021 MSU Open the league announced today.
The All-American opened his 2021-22 campaign by winning the title at 184 at the MSU Open hosted by Michigan State. Wilson was dominant in his first action of the season, earning first period pins of Cal Poly's Dylan Miracle (1:29) and Findlay's Mark Trifelos (2:11) in his first two bouts.
He advanced to the championship match with an impressive 8-1 decision over Darion Roberts on Oklahoma. He won the title after posting a medical forfeit victory of Cal Poly's Bernie Truax who suffered an injury in his semifinal bout and was unable to compete in the championship match.
The Huskies return to action Saturday, Nov. 13 when they open conference competition at Rider. The match begins at 6 p.m. CT. The dual will be available on ESPN+.
