Huskies Host Bradley On Monday Night

DeKALB, IL – The Northern Illinois University women's basketball team returns to the Convocation Center Monday night to take on the Bradley Braves at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3 and locally on WLBK 98.9 FM/1360 AM. 
 
NIU (1-1) looks to get back in the win column after a 70-53 loss at Harvard on Nov. 14. Junior guard Chelby Koker led all scorers in the game with 23 points, adding eight rebounds and four assists per game. Koker has picked up where she left off last season in terms of scoring the basketball, averaging 20 points per game through two contests last season. She averaged 21.1 points per game as a sophomore last season.  
 
The Huskies scored 77 points in their home opener against Illinois State on Nov. 9, a 17-point victory for NIU. Since the start of the 2018-19 season the Huskies are 19-3 when scoring at least 70 points on the home floor. NIU is averaging 8.5 three-pointers per game this season after making nine in 31 attempts at Harvard. Koker and Janae Poisson (Matteson, Ill./Marian Catholic) combined for seven of those triples against the Crimson. Poisson is NIU's second-leading scorer at 12.5 points per game. 
 
Bradley (3-0) stayed perfect in the early going of this season Friday night with a 64-57 win over Wisconsin Friday night. Fifth-year guard Gabi Haack led the Braves with 24 points in the win. Bradley is averaging 77 points per game to start the year, holding opponents to 58.3 points per game. Freshman guard Caroline Waite leads Bradley with 18.7 points per game with Haack averaging 15.3. NIU leads the all-time series against Bradley 12-8, but Bradley won last season's meeting 79-71 in Peoria.  
 
Masks are required at all times for those in attendance at the NIU Convocation Center for men's and women's basketball games unless eating or drinking. A clear bag policy has been instituted for both Huskie Stadium and the NIU Convocation Center. No large bags or purses will be permitted for NIU football, volleyball or men's and women's basketball games. Approved bags include one clear plastic 12"x12"x6" stadium bag or a one-gallon clear plastic storage bag or one clutch purse size 4.5"x6.5" or smaller.
