Huskies Look To Stay Perfect At Home Against Panthers

DeKALB, IL – The Northern Illinois University women's basketball team looks to stay perfect on the home floor Sunday afternoon when the Huskies host the Milwaukee Panthers at the NIU Convocation Center. Tip-off Is at 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3 and locally on WLBK 98.9 FM/1360 AM.
 
NIU (2-1) is 2-0 at home this season after last Monday night's 80-59 win over the Bradley Braves. The Huskies shot 48.3 percent from the field and outrebounded the Braves 42-34. A'Jah Davis (DeKalb, Ill./Montverde Academy [Fla.]) had a game-high 13 rebounds and tied a career-high with 21 points in the victory. It was the third time in her last six games that Davis scored 21 points. Chelby Koker (Racine, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) had 18 points and three assists, making 6-of-7 free throw attempts.
 
The Huskies are averaging 78.5 points per game at the Convocation Center to start the season and have won by an average of 19 points per game. In holding Bradley to 59 points, NIU is now 24-2 during head coach Lisa Carlsen's tenure when holding the opposition to 60 points or less. NIU held Bradley to 34.4 percent from the field and under 30 percent from the three-point line. The Huskies rebound margin through three games this season is +5.7. NIU is third in the Mid-American Conference in rebound margin to start the season and second in rebounds with 41.67 per game.
 
Milwaukee (3-3) comes to DeKalb on a three-game winning streak after a 79-67 win over Wisconsin on Wednesday. Megan Walstad led the Panthers with 21 points as Miquela Santoro added 19. The Panthers shot 53.6 percent from the field in the victory. Walstad leads Milwaukee with 15.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Milwaukee was picked to finish second in the Horizon League in the preseason.

Masks are required at all times for those in attendance at the NIU Convocation Center for men's and women's basketball games unless eating or drinking. A clear bag policy has been instituted for both Huskie Stadium and the NIU Convocation Center. No large bags or purses will be permitted for NIU football, volleyball or men's and women's basketball games. Approved bags include one clear plastic 12"x12"x6" stadium bag or a one-gallon clear plastic storage bag or one clutch purse size 4.5"x6.5" or smaller.
