Huskies And Blue Demons Renew Rivalry Thursday Night

NIU Faces DePaul For First Time At Wintrust Arena

DeKALB, IL – The Northern Illinois University women's basketball team caps its four-game road swing Thursday night with a trip to Chicago to face the DePaul Blue Demons at Wintrust Arena. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. with the game being broadcast on the Big East Digital Network, as well as locally on WLBK 98.9 FM/1360 AM.
 
NIU (3-4) looks to snap its current three-game losing streak after a loss at Drake on Sunday. Redshirt-senior guard Janae Poisson (Matteson, Ill./Marian Catholic) led the Huskies with 14 points, making four three-pointers. Poisson leads the Mid-American Conference with 3.43 threes per game which puts her 11th in the nation. She has made 16 three-pointers over the last four games.
 
As a team, the Huskies are fourth in the MAC with 8.7 made three-pointers per game. That puts NIU among the top 30 teams in the country from the three-point arc. NIU has made 30 three-pointers over the last three games. Poisson and junior guard Chelby Koker (Racine, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) have combined to make 40 three-pointers in seven games this season.
 
DePaul (9-2) comes into tomorrow night's game on a five-game winning streak after a 100-72 victory over Nicholls State on Tuesday. Sonya Morris led the Blue Demons with 21 points as Aneesah Morrow filled the box score with 14 points, nine rebounds, six steals and four assists. The Blue Demons lead the nation in scoring, averaging 89.8 points per game, as well as assists at 20.8 a contest. Morrow leads DePaul with 18 points and 11.6 rebounds per game.
 
Thursday's game marks the first meeting between NIU and DePaul since 2012, and the 42nd overall.
