Huskies Wrap Up Homestand Against Ball State Wednesday

NIU Looks To Sweep Season Series From Cardinals For First Time Since 2011

DeKALB, IL – The Northern Illinois University women's basketball team wraps up a four-game homestand Wednesday night when it takes on the Ball State Cardinals at 6 p.m. at the NIU Convocation Center. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+, as well as on WLBK 98.9 FM/1360 AM and the new NIU Huskies app.

NIU (11-7, 9-5 MAC) looks to rebound from a pair of losses to Kent State over the weekend. On Sunday, the Huskies were held to a season-low 58 points in a 73-58 loss. Chelby Koker (Racine, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) led the Huskies with 15 points, nine rebounds, five assists and a career-high two blocked shots. Koker is among the top-30 players in the nation in scoring and free throw percentage. The sophomore guard is 11th in the nation, and tops in the Mid-American Conference, in free throw percentage at 90.9 percent and 29th in the country with 20.4 points per game.

The Huskies are fourth in the MAC in scoring offense, averaging 74.5 points per game this season. NIU is 9-1 this season when scoring over 75 points, winning each of the last seven games when it passed that threshold. The Huskies have gotten a scoring lift in the last three games from sophomore forward A'Jah Davis (DeKalb, Ill./Montverde Academy [Fla.]), who has averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds during that stretch. Davis had 17 points and a career-high 19 rebounds in the win over Buffalo on Feb. 13. She then scored a career-high 19 points last Saturday against Kent State. Davis is fifth in the MAC in rebounding at 7.8 boards per game.

Ball State (11-9, 9-7 MAC) is coming off an 83-76 loss at home to Buffalo on Saturday. Oshlynn Brown led the Cardinals with 25 points and 11 rebounds as Anna Clephane added 20 points. Brown leads five Cardinals that average double-figures in scoring with 19.4 points per game, while also leading the MAC in rebounding with 119 rebounds per game. The Cardinals are 9-2 on the road this season. Ball State leads the overall series with NIU 38-22, but the Huskies have won the last two meetings including a 78-74 win at Worthen Arena on Feb. 8.

Following Wednesday's game, NIU goes on the road to take on Western Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 27. Tip-off at University Arena is at 1 p.m.
