DEKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 setback to Bowling Green in the conference opener for both teams at the Boylan Tennis Center in Rockford on Friday.
NIU's (6-6)
Diana Lukyanova extended her winning streak to nine matches after scoring the Huskie's lone point on the day. The Huskie No. 3 singles player posted a 6-3, 6-4 straight set win over Yulia Kapitanova.
Maria Potsi saw her eight-match winning streak come to end as she lost 4-6, 6-2, 10-8.
Potsi and
Anastasia Rakita did post a 6-2 victory at No. 1 doubles, however, the Huskies dropped the other two matches and the doubles point.
The NIU women's tennis team returns to the court Sunday when the Huskies travel to Ypsilanti, Mich. for a contest with Eastern Michigan. The match will start at 12 p.m. CT.
