NIU's Lauren Ingle Named MAC Co-Golfer of the Week

Huskie Senior Honored for Second Time This Spring

DeKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois University senior Lauren Ingle (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester Hills-Stoney Creek HS) has been named the Mid-American Conference Co-Golfer of the Week after recording her second Top 10 finish of the season earlier this week at the Kiawah Island Classic in Kiawah Island, South Carolina.

Ingle, who shared the award with Kent State's Emily Price, tied for seventh in a field of 210 golfers with rounds of 74-69-77 on the par 72 Cougar Point and Oak Point courses at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. Her second round 69 tied her career low score and included four birdies.  With the wind picked up and temperatures dropped for Tuesday's final round, she shot one over par on the final 11 holes to finish with a 77.

"Lauren is hitting the ball as pure as she possibly can," NIU head coach Kim Kester said on Tuesday. "Her ball striking is absolutely unbelievable at the moment."

Ingle's efforts helped lead NIU to a fourth-place finish among 41 teams at the tournament.

Ingle has now earned MAC Golfer of the Week honors – the first two of her NIU career - following each of the Huskies' two tournaments so far this spring. The first award came after her second-place finish in the season-opening Mid-American Challenge in Lakewood Ranch, Florida on February 8-9.

NIU returns to action on Monday and Tuesday (March 8-9) at the Jackrabbit Invitational in Boulder Creek, Nevada.
