MUNCIE, Ind. – The Northern Illinois University women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 setback at Ball State at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center on Friday.
Anastasia Rakita provided the lone highlight for NIU (14-14, 6-7) against the 2021 Mid-American Conference champion Cardinals.
The Huskie freshman scored a 6-2, 6-4 straight set victory over Maria Polishchuk at No. 2 singles.
Maria Potsi battled at No. 1 singles, but succumbed in three sets. The Huskie senior won the first set, 6-3, but dropped the second 6-4 and the third, 10-8.
The Huskies conclude the 2021 season Sunday when they play host to Western Michigan. The game will be played at DeKalb High School, weather permitting, and will begin at 1 p.m. CT.
