Jake Dunham Named MAC Baseball Player Of The Week

Senior Catcher Hit .600 In Weekend Series Against Western Michigan

DeKALB, Ill. – Senior catcher Jake Dunham (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) of the Northern Illinois University baseball team was named the Mid-American Conference Baseball Player of the Week on Monday after hitting .600 with five RBI against Western Michigan in this past weekend's four-game series.
 
Dunham had a slugging percentage of 1.067 over the weekend, bolstered by a double and two home runs. He was 9-for-15 at the plate to extend his current hitting streak to 11 games. In Friday's series opener, Dunham was 3-for-5 with a solo home run. After going 1-for-3 in both games of Saturday's doubleheader, Dunham tied a career-high with four hits in NIU's 15-5 win in eight innings Sunday. He drove in three runs, including his sixth home run of the season, and was a triple away from the cycle in a 4-for-4 game with three runs scored.
 
During his current 11-game hitting streak, Dunham is 20-for-36 for a .556 batting average. He has four doubles and four home runs in that stretch for a 1.000 slugging percentage while driving in 12 runs. Dunham leads the Huskies in batting average this season at .359 with six home runs and 28 RBI. He also leads the team with a .435 on-base percentage and is tied for the team lead in walks with 14. This past weekend, Dunham moved into second place all-time at NIU with 216 career starts.
 
This is Dunham's second MAC Player of the Week honor in his career. He was last named Player of the Week on March 27, 2017.
 
NIU goes on the road this weekend for a four-game series at Eastern Michigan beginning Friday, May 14 at 5 p.m.
