DeKALB, IL – Senior
Jordan Less (Elmhurst, Ill./York) of the Northern Illinois University men's golf team was named to the All-MAC First Team on Friday morning as the Mid-American Conference announced its postseason awards.
"This is a well-deserved honor for Jordan," said head coach
John Carlson. "He has been an outstanding representative of NIU Athletics on and off the course throughout his career. Jordan has left a lasting legacy on NIU golf."
Less led the Huskies in scoring average this spring at 73.90, playing in all seven events. He had four top-25 finishes on the year with three top-five showings. Less opened the season with a second-place finish in NIU's dual match victory over Missouri State on Feb. 27, finishing the 36 holes at one-under par. On April 11, Less finished fourth in a field that included seven of the top-100 amateur golfers in the world at the time at the Aggie Invitational at Texas A&M. His final round 69 put him at one-under par for the tournament and into the top-five.
The senior helped lead NIU to its best showing at the MAC Championships in over 30 years last weekend. Less tied for second place individually by one stroke as the Huskies finished second for the first time since 1986. He earned a place on the MAC All-Tournament Team after becoming the first NIU men's golfer since Joo-Young Lee in 2016 to finish second at the conference championship. Less finishes his NIU career second all-time in stroke average at 74.2 and holds the single-season stroke average at 72.5 during the 2019-20 season.
