DeKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois University athletics facilities, including Huskie Stadium, will operate at 100 percent capacity for NIU Athletics events this fall, NIU officials announced Friday. The announcement comes following the reopening of the state of Illinois and in accordance with the DeKalb County Health Department and NIU guidelines.
In addition to the six home football games in Huskie Stadium - beginning with the September 11 home opener versus Wyoming - fans will be welcome to tailgate in the Huskie Stadium parking lots. Victor E. Court, home of the NIU volleyball team, the NIU Convocation Center and the NIU Track & Field Soccer Complex also will accommodate all fans this fall.
"We are so excited to welcome all fans back to our venues at 100 percent capacity this fall," said
Sean T. Frazier, NIU Associate Vice-President and Director of Athletics. "It's time, Huskies! Get ready to pack up the tailgate gear, hear the Huskie Marching Band play the Fight Song and get into your seats in Huskie Stadium to watch games in person. We cannot wait to see you!"
NIU has pushed the football season ticket renewal deadline back to June 25, 2021, allowing fans who have waited for the reopening announcement to make their orders on time. In addition to season tickets, NIU orders for tickets to the Huskies' away games at Georgia Tech (Saturday, Sept. 4) and at Michigan (Saturday, Sept. 18) – limited to season ticket members and Huskie Athletic Fund donors – must be received, including payment, by June 25.
