Ryan Anderson Signs With Joliet Slammers

2021 Graduate Becomes Third Huskie To Join Pro Ranks This Summer

DeKALB, IL – Former Northern Illinois University pitcher Ryan Anderson (Palatine, Ill.) has signed a professional contract with the Joliet Slammers of the Frontier League, the team announced on Monday.

Anderson posted a 3-3 record this past season in 12 appearances, starting eight games on the mound. He struck out 31 batters in 49.2 innings pitched. On May 1, Anderson allowed just two runs on six hits over six innings in the Huskies' 11-2 win over Akron at Ralph McKinzie Field as NIU swept a doubleheader. He threw his first complete game victory one week later in NIU's 5-2 victory over Western Michigan. Anderson allowed just three hits and struck out four Broncos. On May 15 Anderson recorded a career-high seven strikeouts in 6.1 innings as the Huskies won 5-3 at Eastern Michigan.

This is the third time this summer a former Huskie has signed a professional contract. Jordan Larson signed with the Plattsburgh Thunderbirds of the Empire Baseball League and is currently leading that league with a .418 batting average. Nate Thomas signed with the Schaumburg Boomers of the Frontier League on July 13 and made his debut on July 20.
