DeKALB, Illinois – The Northern Illinois University women's tennis team will send seven student-athletes to compete in the ITA Midwest Regional Championships in Ann Arbor, Michigan beginning this Thursday.
Erika Dimitriev,
Isabella Righi,
Reagan Welch,
Lauren Littell, and
Anastasia Rakita will compete in the qualifying singles on Thursday, where they will need to win two rounds to qualify for Main Draw singles. Meanwhile,
Diana Lukyanova has already qualified for Main Draw singles and will begin competing Friday afternoon.
First up for the Huskies on Thursday will be freshman Righi who is in the first match of the day on Court 3. Sophomore
Reagan Welch will play the second match on Court 4 and Rakita is in the third match on Court 8. LIttell and Dimitriev will be the last Huskies to play their first match as they are slotted fourth on courts 3 and 4, respectively. Follow live scores and video (of select matches) online

Participating in Main Draw doubles, starting Friday morning, will be the teams of Natalya Miroslavova Ninova and Righi, Rakita and Littell, and Dimitriev and Welch.
Nineteen universities from across the Midwest will have athletes competing at the Regionals. Schools represented include Michigan, Bowling Green, Chicago State, Cleveland State, DePaul, Eastern Michigan, Illinois State, Illinois-Chicago, Illinois, Marquette, Michigan State, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Toledo, Valparaiso, Western Michigan, Wisconsin and Youngstown State in addition to NIU.
The tournament is the third of the fall for the Huskies. Next weekend, NIU will host the NIU Huskie Fall Indoor Invitational inside the Nelson Tennis Center at Chick Evans Field House. Action gets underway on Friday, October 28.
