DeKALB, Ill. – After beating Lindenwood (44-6) and Harper College (52-6) last weekend at the Huskie Duals, the Northern Illinois University wrestling team looks to continue its momentum at the Boilermaker Duals this Sunday. NIU will square off against UT-Chattanooga, Cleveland State and Purdue inside Holloway Gymnasium in West Lafayette.
In last weekend's duals, redshirt freshman
Blake West (2-0) got the energy going early, earning falls against each of his foes. At 125, West opened the Lindenwood dual by pinning Austin Kegley at 2:05 to give the Huskies the early lead. NIU went on to win that dual 44-6 before West opened the Harper College dual with yet another pin. West recorded a fall over Chris Kish at 2:21 to give NIU another early advantage before the Huskies beat the Hawks 52-6.
Last year at the Boilermaker Duals, the Huskies beat Bellarmine 33-5 and Brown 33-9, but fell to Purdue 28-10 and Duke 25-17.
