DeKALB, IL – The Northern Illinois University women's basketball team takes its four-game winning streak to the United States Naval Academy this weekend as the Huskies will play two games in the Navy Classic this Saturday and Sunday.

The Huskies will face the host Midshipmen on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 12:30 p.m., with the game broadcast on ESPN+ as well as the NIU Huskies and Varsity Network apps. NIU will take on the Richmond Spiders on Sunday, Nov. 27 at 2:30 p.m., with the broadcast on WDKB 94-9 as well as the NIU Huskies and Varsity Network apps.

NIU (4-1) moved to 4-1 on the year this past Tuesday with a 65-63 win at Detroit Mercy. Emily Meinert (Galesburg, Ill./Parkland College) laid in a Chelby Koker (Racine, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) lob pass with 0.6 seconds left for NIU's fourth consecutive win. The Huskies led for 39:15 before a 12-2 Detroit Mercy run late in the fourth quarter tied the game at 63.

Koker had 12 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals in the win over Detroit Mercy. It was her fourth straight game with at least five assists. She had a game-high nine assists in the Nov. 17 win over Western Illinois. Koker is currently leading the Mid-American Conference with 5.2 assists per game. The Huskies, as a team, are second in the MAC with 16.0 assists per game.

Senior forward A'Jah Davis (DeKalb, Ill./Montverde Academy [Fla.]) had her first double-double of the season in the win over Detroit Mercy. Davis had 20 points and 11 rebounds, her second 20-point game this season. Over the last four games Davis is shooting 66.7 percent from the floor and averaging 16.3 points per game. She was fourth in the nation last season with 24 double-doubles.

The Huskies will face both Navy and Richmond for the first time this weekend. The trip to Annapolis makes Maryland the 35th different state the Huskies have traveled to.

Navy enters its home tournament at 0-5 after a 76-56 loss to Monmouth Tuesday night. Maren Louridas led the Midshipmen with 24 points as Sydne Watts added 18 points and five rebounds. That duo leads Navy in scoring with each at 15.2 points per game. Richmond enters the weekend 4-1 after a 68-65 overtime win over Hampton last Sunday, using an 8-2 run in the extra period. Grace Townsend led four Spiders in double figures with 19 points. Richmond has four players averaging double figure points, led by Addie Budnik's 13.4 per game. The Spiders average 65.6 points per game and allow 55 per game.
