Huskies Travel to Bowling Green for Second Meeting with Falcons

DEKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University men's basketball team heads to Bowling Green, Ohio, on Saturday, Feb. 5, to face the Falcons for the second time this season. Game time against Bowling Green is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT and will be available on ESPN3. 

NIU is coming off a 75-56 victory over Western Michigan on Tuesday night (Feb. 1) in which the Huskies never trailed as they shot a season-high 55.6 percent (30-of-54) from the floor. Trendon Hankerson (Novi, Mich./Novi), Adong Makuoi (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada/Daytona State College) and Keshawn Williams (Chicago Heights, Ill./Tulsa) each had 15 points to lead the way for the Huskies. 

For Makuoi, his 15 points, which including 7-of-8 shooting from the field, was a career-high. The Edmonton native is shooting 55.1 percent in conference play, seventh-best in the MAC. 

Hankerson also recorded three steals against the Broncos on Tuesday and continues to lead the MAC in that category with 2.05 steals per game, which also ranks 33rd nationally. 

The Falcons bring an 11-11 mark into Saturday's contest, including a 4-7 record in league play. Bowling Green is coming off a 78-74 setback at Central Michigan on Tuesday night (Feb. 1). Three players score in double figures for Bowling Green, led by 16.7 points per game from Daeqwon Plowden, who also averages a team-high 7.1 rebounds per contest. Joe Reece adds 11.8 points and Myron Gordon is scoring 10.9 points per contest. Bowling Green leads the MAC, and ranks seventh nationally, in scoring at 82.6 points per game.

Bowling Green won the first meeting of the season, 92-83, in DeKalb on Jan. 18. Samari Curtis scored 21 points to lead six players in double figures for the Falcons. Williams netted a career-high 32 points to pace NIU in the contest. 

The Huskies will return home on Tuesday night, Feb. 8, when they host Akron at 7 p.m.
