DeKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University women's tennis team earned its second consecutive 7-0 match win Saturday, blanking the University of St. Thomas at Chick Evans Field House to improve to 3-1 in 2022.
 
The Huskies opened the match by taking the doubles point with the No. 2 duo of Diana Lukyanova and Reagan Welch shutting out Jannah El Nemr and Regina Talavera, 6-0, while Erika Dimitriev and Anastasia Rakita secured the point with a 6-3 win over Olivia Paradise and Madeline Bremel.
 
In singles play, No. 1 Lukyanova and No. 2 Dimitriev each dispatched their opponents 6-2, 6-2 to give the Huskies a 3-0 lead and freshman Reagan Welch clinched the match win with a 6-2, 7-6 win at No. 3 over Jannah El Nemr.  The final three matches were all concluded in less than an hour as the Huskies did not drop a set for the second straight match.
 
"We had another solid day, especially in singles," said head coach Eric Burns. "Everyone was solid across the board and took care of their matches. We have a tough one at Notre Dame tomorrow but good for us to get experience competing at a high level."
 
The Huskies travel to South Bend on Sunday to take on the Fighting Irish. The match begins at 3 p.m. at the Eck Tennis Pavilion. Follow live scores here.
