BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Northern Illinois University women's tennis team split a pair of matches in Buffalo, New York on Sunday, dropping a 7-0 decision to Mid-American Conference foe Buffalo before earning a 7-0 win over Binghamton.
 
With the split, NIU's record stands at 13-8 on the year. The Huskies have dropped all three of their league matches to date.
 
In its first match of the day, the Bulls earned the doubles point by winning the No. 1 and No. 3 matches by scores of 7-5 and 6-4, respectively, with Reagan Welch and Iuliia Dmitrieva tied 5-5 at No. 2 doubles when the point was clinched.
 
Four of the six singles matches went to three sets and the Bulls also won a pair of tiebreakers and a super tiebreaker to earn the shutout win.
 
The Huskies bounced back in a big way versus Binghamton, claiming straight set wins across the board, topped by Fernanda Naves who shut out her opponent at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
 
NIU returns to action on Friday, April 1 at 1 p.m. when the Huskies play host to Miami (Ohio). The match will be held at the DeKalb High School Courts or, in case of inclement weather, in Chick Evans Field House.
