CLEVELAND – Keshawn Williams (Chicago Heights, Ill./Bloom) of the Northern Illinois University men's basketball team has been named to the All-Mid-American Conference Honorable Mention team, announced by the conference office on Wednesday (March 9).
Williams finished eighth in the conference in scoring, averaging 16.3 points per game, as he led the Huskies in scoring 24 times. The Chicago Heights, Ill., native scored in double figures 23 times during the 2021-22 campaign, including each of the final 18 games of the season. Williams also ranked eighth in the MAC in free throw percentage, shooting 80.3 percent (102-of-127) from the line.
In conference play, Williams was seventh in the MAC in scoring, as he averaged 17.6 points per game. He was also eighth in free throw percentage, connecting at 81.8 percent (72-of-88) from the charity stripe, and 12th in three-point percentage, as he shot 37.3 percent (25-of-67) from three in league play. Williams scored a career-best 32 points against Bowling Green on Jan. 18 and eclipsed the 20-point mark nine times during his first season with the Huskies.
A transfer from Tulsa, Williams averaged the most points by any first-year Huskie since Xavier Silas netted 19.7 points per game during the 2009-10 campaign. He also finished second on the team with 1.0 steals per game and third with 1.8 assists per contest.
Williams is the first Huskie to earn All-MAC honors since Eugene German was named to the All-MAC First Team in 2020.
