DeKALB, IL – The Northern Illinois University women's basketball team looks to continue its winning ways at the NIU Convocation Center Wednesday night as the Huskies host the Miami RedHawks at 6 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN+ with the local broadcast on WDKB 94-9 FM, the NIU Huskies app and the Varsity Network app.

NIU (10-5, 2-2 MAC) moved to 5-1 at the Convocation Center with a 78-66 win over the Ohio Bobcats last Saturday. The Huskies closed the game out on a 10-0 run, holding Ohio scoreless for the final 4:05. NIU is now 15-4 at home over the last two seasons. Through six home games this year, NIU is averaging over 75 points per game and shooting 42.7 percent from the field. The Huskies have also held their last five opponents at the Convocation Center under 70 points.
A'Jah Davis (DeKalb, Ill./Montverde Academy [Fla.]) led NIU with 16 points and 11 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season. It was also her 40
th career double-double, tying her with Carol Owens for second all-time at NIU. Davis has had double-digit rebounds in each of the last 11 games. She is second in the Mid-American Conference in both field goal percentage (55.3%) and rebounding (11.3/game). Davis is 10
th in the country in rebounding and fifth in offensive rebounding with 4.7 offensive boards per game.
NIU's bench has given the Huskies a lift in the last two games. The Huskies had 38 bench points at Western Michigan on Jan. 11 led by
Janae Poisson's (Matteson, Ill./Marian Catholic) 18 points. In Saturday's win over Ohio the NIU bench outscored the Bobcats' reserves 35-7. Poisson had 12 points with
Grace Hunter (Monroeville, Ind./Bellmont) adding nine with three rebounds and two assists.
Emily Meinert (Galesburg, Ill./Parkland College) had a season-high seven points and six rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench.
The Huskies have won the last three meetings against the RedHawks in DeKalb. Miami won last season's game in Oxford, Ohio 61-56. The RedHawks are 1-3 in MAC play after a 92-61 loss at Ball State last Saturday. Ivy Wolf led Miami with 19 points. She is third in the MAC in scoring at 18.1 points per game. The RedHawks are second in the MAC In three-point shooting at 34.9 percent.
NIU goes on the road on Saturday, Jan. 21 to take on Eastern Michigan. Tip-off is at 12 p.m. CT.
