Ludwig Announces 2023-24 NIU Wrestling Schedule

DeKALB, Ill.-The Northern Illinois University wrestling program has released its 2023-24 schedule, as announced by NIU athletics. The Huskies signed a class of 11 newcomers this past offseason and have an action-packed winter ahead under the direction of 13th-year head coach Ryan Ludwig.

NIU's season gets underway with the annual Red/Black Dual on Friday, Oct. 27, before the Huskies will host Lindenwood and St. Ambrose (IA) for the NIU Duals on Nov. 3.

"Our training has been going well and the guys are excited for the upcoming season," said NIU head coach Ryan Ludwing. "We are focused on being better each day moving forward. We've got some great opponents this season and are ready to get the season underway with the Red/Black Dual and the Huskie Duals."

The Huskies then face road tests at the Michigan State Open on Nov. 11, an event which hosts some of the top talent from across the country. The Huskies will compete at the Lindenwood Open (Nov. 18) and the Purdue Duals on Nov. 19, facing off against Purdue, Binghamton, and Indianapolis.

Heading into the month of December, the Huskies will compete at the Cougar Clash, hosted by SIUE, on Dec. 2.

Nearing the halfway point of the regular season, the Huskies are set to host California Baptist on Dec. 15. The Huskies remain at home as they host Kent State, Harper College, and Northwestern on Dec. 19. The Huskies will open their Mid-American Conference schedule against Kent State.

The Huskies will conclude December with the 59th Ken Kraft Midlands Championships, hosted by Northwestern on Dec. 29 and 30.

Returning after the holidays, the Huskies hit the road to face Rider on Jan. 5. The Huskies host Ohio on Jan. 12 before hitting the road to take on Cleveland State on Jan. 19. Ending the month of January, the Huskies host Central Michigan on Jan. 27.

The final road trip of the year will take the Huskies to Buffalo on Feb. 3.

The annual "Beauty and the Beast" matchup will take place on Feb. 9 as the Huskies host Lock Haven; the event is in collaboration with the NIU gymnastics team. The Huskies conclude the regular season, hosting SIUE on Feb. 23.

Two weeks later, the Huskies are set to compete at the MAC Championships March 8-9 in Kent, Ohio. The NCAA Championships are set for March 21-23 in Kansas City, Missouri.
