Huskies Set to Host Akron and Buffalo

DeKALB, Ill.—After playing seven of its last 11 matches on the road, the Northern Illinois University Huskies volleyball program returns home to Victor E. Court on October 27 to start a four-game home stay. The Huskies will play host to Akron on Oct. 27 in the "Black Out" game at 6 p.m. while donning pink for the "Pink Game/Team Impact" against Buffalo on Oct. 28 at 4 p.m.

Akron (10-2, 5-6 MAC) and have lost five straight matches. On the court, the Zips have a hitting percentage of .202 with 12.06 kills per set. Leading Akron, Faith Johnson leads the Zips with 3.43 kills per set. Lauren Baker is averaging 2.48 kills per set.

NIU leads the all-time series, 32-10, over Akron. The Huskies have won the last four meetings over the Zips, with three sweeps by the Huskies.

Buffalo (19-4, 9-2 MAC) and leads the MAC in hitting percentage. The Bulls hold a hitting percentage of .267 and have recorded 1,213 total kills this season. Buffalo is averaging 13.63 kills per set to lead the league and are second in aces per set with 1.82 aces per set. Katrin Trebichavska leads the Bulls with 286 total kills this season for 3.40 kills per set (eighth in the MAC).

NIU leads the all-time series over Buffalo, 24-8. Last season's meeting was split between the teams, with each team earning a sweep.

Katie Erdmann (Forreston, Ill./Forreston) eclipsed the 1,000-career kill mark on Oct. 17 in the Huskies defeat to Western Michigan. Erdmann is averaging 2.26 kills per set this season, having seen action in 74 sets for the Huskies. 

Crew Hoffmeier (Louisville, Ky/Assumption) is third in the MAC for digs per set and total digs, averaging 4.57 digs per set and 402 total digs this season.

Charli Atiemo (Milford, Mich./Farmington Hills Mercy) leads the MAC in total blocks (93) this season and is second in blocks per set (1.06). Atiemo is in the top-10 for highest hitting percentage in the MAC, recording a percentage of .326.

Savanah Brandt (Pearl City, Ill./Pearl City) is in the top-10 for total blocks and blocks per set this season in the MAC, tallying 72 total blocks and .86 blocks per set.

The Huskies have two athletes in the top-10 in the MAC for hitting percentage (min. 3 total attacks per set). Atiemo sits at No. 6 with a hitting percentage of .326 while Emily Dykes (Winterville, N.C./Ayden-Grifton) maintains a hitting percentage of .310 (eighth in the league).
