Huskies Hosts Toledo for Senior Weekend

DeKALB, Ill.—Starting the month of November, the Northern Illinois University Huskies volleyball program concludes their four-game home stay, hosting the University of Toledo on Nov. 3 and Nov. 4. The Huskies (8-17, 6-7 MAC) have first serve against the Rockets of Toledo on Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. The Huskies finish the series against Toledo on Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. for the Huskies Senior Day.
 
A post-game autograph session will be held following the conclusion of both games for the Huskies volleyball squad. Saturday, Nov. 4, is Family Day, where at the door prices for a parent and child ticket are $2.
 
Toledo (10-14, 8-5 MAC) has a hitting percentage of .208 with 13 kills per set. The Rockets are ninth in the MAC for hitting percentage and fifth in the league for kills.
 
In the all-time series, NIU leads 50-14 over Toledo. The split last season's meetings between the squads in Toledo. The Huskies dropped the first meeting 3-0 before winning the second 3-1. The Huskies hold a 25-8 record against Toledo in DeKalb. 
 
Taylor Alt, Jada Bouyer, and Izzy Granger lead the Rockets in kills per set. Alt averages 3.97 kills per set (second in the MAC), Bouyer averages 2.39 kills per set, and Granger is averaging 2.31 kills per set. On the defensive side, Abby Erickson is sitting at .89 blocks per set to lead the Rockets.
 
In the last seven seasons, the Huskies have been credited with 62 games with double-digit blocks (including the 2023 season). The 2022 season and the 2016 season both saw double-digit blocks games, with 14 games in 2016 and 10 games in 2022. Charli Atiemo (Milford, Mich./Farmington Hills Mercy), who was the 2021 season leader in blocks at 70, leads the Huskies with 102 blocks this season. 
 
Looking at the numbers for the Huskies, Crew Hoffmeier (Louisville, Ky/Assumption) is third in the MAC for digs per set and total digs, recording 4.48 digs per set and 426 total digs this season.
 
On the offensive side of the ball, Atiemo is in the top-10 for highest hitting percentage in the MAC, recording a percentage of .326. Emily Dykes (Winterville, N.C./Ayden-Grifton) is eighth in the MAC for hitting percentage, sitting at .309. Dykes has tallied 169 kills this season, which is fourth on the Huskies team.
 
Since the 2016 season, the Huskies have posted a 15-15 record in the month of November. The Huskies are coming off consecutive November's with winning streaks. The Huskies posted a 3-2 record last November and a 5-1 record in November of 2021.
