DeKALB, Ill. – DeKalb's Whiskey Acres Distilling Company will release the first Northern Illinois University Athletics/Whiskey Acres co-branded bourbon during a special event at the Whiskey Acres Visitor Center (11504 Keslinger Road, DeKalb) on Thursday, December 7 from 4-6:30 p.m.
The public is invited to join NIU head coaches, including football's Thomas Hammock, Lisa Carlsen of women's basketball and new NIU baseball coach Ryan Copeland, along with Vice President and Director of Athletics and Recreation Sean T. Frazier, for the release party of the bourbon.
Each commemorative bottle showcases the NIU Cardinal and Black colors on the front and the Huskie logo on the back, celebrating the shared proud roots in DeKalb of NIU and Whiskey Acres. This ultra-small batch release is a curation of four, five and six-year-old barrels hand selected by Whiskey Acres Master Distiller Robert Wallace III.
All bottles sold on Dec 7th will retail for $57.99, with $10 from each bottle sold donated to NIU Athletics. In addition, a special "Huskie Punch" cocktail will be featured during the event, with a portion of the proceeds also going to NIU Athletics. Fay's Bar-B-Que will be onsite and available for purchase.
To pre-order bottle(s) of the NIU Huskies/Whiskey Acres bourbon, contact NIU Senior Associate Athletic Director Ryan Sedevie via e-mail at rsedevie@niu.edu or by calling 815-753-0639.
