DeKALB, Ill.—Beginning a four-dual homestand, the Northern Illinois University Huskies wrestling squad is set to host Cal Baptist on December 15. The dual is set to start at 6 p.m. inside Victor E. Court on the NIU campus.
The Huskies return to NIU after five weeks on the road, including three opens. In their most recent outing, the Cougar Clash on Dec. 2, the Huskies saw ten athletes place as the team took fifth overall.
The Huskies and Lancers of Cal Baptist (2-2) will meet for the second time in their histories, with the first meeting coming on January 7, 2023, in Riverside, Calif. The Huskies claimed a 20-15 victory.
Blake West (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee),
Matt Zuber (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick), and
Jaivon Jones (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Nordonia) are the three returning Huskies who won in the last meeting.
The Huskies have started the season 3-1 for the second consecutive year, mirroring the start to the 2022-23 campaign. This is the third time under head coach
Ryan Ludwig that the Huskies have started the season 3-1.
Three Huskies have achieved 10 or more wins this season. Zuber leads the way with an 11-4 record, which includes six major decision victories. West has a 10-2 record this season and four pins.
Collin Arch (Palmyra, Mo./Palmyra) records a 10-1 record, including three major decision wins and two pins this season.
