NIU Heads To Miami For Midweek Matchup

Huskies Look To Split Season Series With RedHawks

DeKALB, IL - The Northern Illinois University women's basketball team, winners of four of its last five games, goes on the road Wednesday to take on the Miami RedHawks at Millett Hall. Tip-off is at 6 p.m. CT with the game broadcast on ESPN+ and locally on WDKB 94-9 FM, the NIU Huskies app and Varsity Network app.
 
NIU (14-11, 6-8 MAC) defeated the top two teams in the Mid-American Conference standings last week, winning 85-81 at Bowling Green last Wednesday and earning an 84-77 win over Ball State at the NIU Convocation Center on Saturday. The Huskies snapped Bowling Green's 11-game winning streak and gave the Falcons their first loss at Stroh Center, and also snapped Ball State's 10-game winning streak.
 
Over the last five games NIU is averaging 80 points per game and winning by an average of 9.0 points per game. The Huskies are shooting 48.0 percent from the field and 42.5 percent from the three-point line. NIU enters Wednesday's game leading the league in three-point percentage at 34.4 percent and with 8.6 threes per game, which puts the Huskies 14th in the country. The Huskies have made at least 10 threes in five of the last six games.
 
Senior forward A'Jah Davis (DeKalb, Ill./Montverde Academy [Fla.]) is closing in on the NIU career double-doubles record. Her 17 points and 15 rebounds in last Saturday's win over Ball State was her 49th career double-double. She is now one away from tying Tammy Hinchee (1986-90) for the NIU career record of 50. Davis has had a double-double in 10 consecutive games, with at least 15 points and 15 rebounds in each of the last five games. She is the nation's fourth-leading rebounder at 12.6 per game and fifth in double-doubles with 18.
 
Chelby Koker (Racine, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) had her ninth 20-point effort of the year last Saturday with a game-high 25 points in the Huskies' win over Ball State. It was her fifth game this season with at least 25 points. Koker was 5-for-6 from the three-point line and 8-of-11 from the field overall. Over the last five games Koker is averaging 19.0 points per game and shooting 58.0 percent from long range. She is second in the MAC in three-point percentage at 40.0 percent, sixth with 2.24 threes per game and seventh in scoring at 16.3 points per game.
 
Miami (10-17, 5-9 MAC) enters Wednesday night's contest tied with Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan for seventh place in the league with four games to go. The RedHawks rallied in the fourth quarter Saturday at Buffalo, outscoring the Bulls 26-15 to come away with a 72-67 win. Maddi Cluse led Miami with 20 points and 12 rebounds with Peyton Scott adding 16 points. The RedHawks have three of the top-12 scorers in the MAC, led by sophomore Ivy Wolf's 16.4 points per game. Wolf had a game-high 23 points in Miami's 74-69 win over NIU at the Convocation Center on Jan. 18.
