Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In its final match before beginning conference play, the Northern Illinois University men's tennis earned a 7-0 win over Lipscomb on Saturday afternoon (March 4). With the victory, the Huskies improved to 8-4 on the season. 

"I am really proud of these guys to bounce back the way we did today so convincingly," said NIU head coach Patrick Fisher. "Lipscomb beat the team we lost to on Thursday night, not to mention we had to play outside today in our first outdoor match with very little preparation. I've said all year I believe in these guys and we're looking for that signature win that propels our team to the next level and I feel this could be it for us."

The two teams split the only two doubles matches to be played with Mikael Vollbach and Cheng En Tsai scoring their eighth consecutive victory, 6-3, against Maksim Bogdanovich and Luka Stojanovic for the Huskies. The Bisons forfeited the match at number three, giving NIU the opening point. 

In singles, Vollbach dropped just three games in a 6-3, 6-0 win over Vikash Singh. En Tsai was victorious against Henrique Ushizima, 6-3, 6-2, and Oliver Valentinsson picked up a 6-3, 6-4, win over Bogdanovich, his eighth victory of the season, to help NIU secure the overall match result. 

Each of the other two matches went to 10-point third sets, with NIU earning victories in both. Iker Gaztambide Arrastia won at number four, 4-6, 7-6, 10-8, while Christopher Norlin also came from behind to win at number five, 4-6, 6-3, 10-8. 

NIU will begin Mid-American Conference play on Friday, March 10, when the Huskies host Buffalo at the Nelson Tennis Center and Chick Evans Field House.
