DeKALB, IL - The Northern Illinois University baseball team had 10 student-athletes selected to the Mid-American Conference Academic All-MAC Baseball Team on Friday morning. The 10 selections ties a program record set in 2021.
 
Senior pitcher Nick Bonk (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Stevenson) earned his third Academic All-MAC honor. Bonk was second on the NIU pitching staff with a .214 opposing batting average and had two saves on the year. Eric Erato (Sussex, Wis./Sussex Hamilton) and Matt Salomonson (Chicago, Ill./Notre Dame College Prep) were named to the Academic All-MAC Team for the second straight season. Erato set an NIU single season record with 51 walks and led the Huskies with 47 runs scored and 25 stolen bases.
 
Seven Huskies earned their first Academic All-MAC honor in junior infielders Aaron Harper (Hemet, Calif./Mt. San Jacinto CC), Andre Demetral (Rochester, Mich./Florence Darling Tech) and Mason Kelley (Mt. Washington, Ky./Schoolcraft College), redshirt-junior pitcher Reagan Klawiter (Verona, Wis./Madison College), senior pitcher Brandon McPherson (Chicago, Ill./Wabash Valley College) and sophomore pitchers Mason Ruh (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran HS) and Conner Lutes (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville).
 
Harper led NIU with 62 hits this season and was second in batting average, slugging percentage, doubles, home runs and runs batted in. Demetral led the Huskies with five triples and was second with 37 walks. Ruh led all NIU pitchers with 54.1 innings pitched and was second to McPherson's 43 strikeouts with 41.
 
To qualify for the Academic All-MAC Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that sport.
