DeKALB, Ill.—Returning to Victor E. Court for the first time in nearly a month, the Northern Illinois University Huskies (7-2, 1-1 MAC) wrestling program will host Ohio University (4-2) for a MAC dual on Friday, Jan. 12 at 1 p.m. start time. The dual was originally scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Huskies have a 12-17-1 record against the Bobcats, including winning last season's meeting in Athens, 23-10. The Huskies have won three of the last four meetings between the programs, however the last victory in DeKalb came during the 2006-2007 season.

Remaining in the rankings for the third consecutive week, Blake West (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee) sits at No. 31 in the 125-pound rankings released by Intermat on January 9, 2024. West is also ranked at No. 32 in the College Wrestling Report's rankings.

Jaivon Jones (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Nordonia) remains in the top-30 in the Wrestle Stat rankings, sitting at No. 27.

After facing his first ranked opponent of the season in Rider's David Szuba, Jacobi Jackson (St. Louis, Mo./Desmet Jesuit) enters the rankings for the first time, landing at No. 30 in the FloWrestling rankings.

West started the season with an 18-5 record, 9-0 in dual meets, and 2-0 in MAC duals. Jackson holds an 8-3 record overall, going 6-0 in dual meets and 2-0 in MAC duals. Matt Zuber (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick) has accumulated a record of 14-5. Zuber has gone 7-1 in duals and 1-1 in MAC duals.

Zuber leads the Huskies with seven major decisions while West leads the Huskies with three technical falls.

The Huskies were last in action on January 5, losing in a nail-biter to Rider University, 19-18. West, ranked No. 31, started the Huskies off with a win over Tyler Klinsky as the Huskies won the first three bouts in the match. Jackson took down then-ranked No. 29/No. 33 David Szuba in the 285-pound match in his first ranked match-up.
