Men's Tennis | January 14

STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Northern Illinois University men's tennis team lost its dual against 17th-ranked Mississippi State, 7-0, on Sunday (Jan. 14). MSU also has their number one individual ranked 13th in singles and their top duo is 24th in doubles. 

The hosts won the first point by defeating the Huskies in two of the three doubles matches. Sophomore Iker Gaztambide Arrastia (Pamplona, Spain) and sophomore Christopher Norlin (Stockholm, Sweden) fought to a 5-5 score before the match was abandoned.  

In singles competition, senior Cheng En Tsai (Taipei, Taiwan/ Abraham Baldwin) came very close to winning both sets in his match at number one but fell narrowly, 7-6, 7-5.  

Arrastia won the second set in his match with Dusan Milanovic at number three but was unable to win the third set to complete the comeback, falling 6-3, 3-6, 6-0.  

The Huskies are back in action on Saturday, January 20 in Des Moines, Iowa in a doubleheader with Washburn and Drake.
