DeKALB, IL – The Northern Illinois University women's basketball team returns to the NIU Convocation Center Wednesday night to take on the UIC Flames. Tip-off is at 6 p.m. with the game broadcast on ESPN+ as well as 94-9 WDKB, TuneIn and the NIU Huskies App.
Women's basketball season tickets, as well as single-game tickets, are on sale now at NIUHuskies.com and by calling the NIU Athletics Ticket Office at (815) 753-PACK (7225). Pricing starts at just $35 for general admission seats and $50 for reserved tickets located in section 103 as well as 111-113. Courtside seat season tickets for NIU women's basketball are available for $275 which includes the cost of a season ticket plus a $225 per seat license. Single-game tickets are $6 for general admission and $8 for reserved seats.
NIU (3-2) returns to the home floor after back-to-back road wins at Chicago State on Nov. 20 and at Milwaukee this past Sunday.
Brooke Stonebraker (Versailles, Ohio/Versailles) and
Alecia Doyle (Carterville, Ill./SEMO) each had a team-high 17 points in the Huskies' 67-60 win over the Panthers. Stonebraker also led all players with nine rebounds. NIU shot over 45 percent from the field for the fourth straight game.
The Huskies are second in the Mid-American Conference in field goal percentage, shooting 46.1 percent to start the season. NIU is also now fifth in the nation from the three-point line at 44.1 percent. On Sunday NIU was 8-for-18 from long range. Doyle and
Sidney McCrea (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Prairie) combined to go 6-for-10 from the three-point line at Milwaukee.
Chelby Koker (Racine, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) had 10 points, five rebounds and five assists on Sunday in her first action since the season opener. It was her 18
th career game with at least 10 points, five rebounds and five assists. Koker has made a three-pointer in 24 of her last 25 games played.
Wednesday's game is the first regular season meeting between NIU and UIC since 2014. The Huskies lead the all-time series 25-20 but the Flames have won six straight meetings. UIC won the last meeting 71-56 at the Women's Basketball Invitational in Lexington, Ky. on March 19, 2023. The Flames are 0-3 on the season but have lost their last two games to Green Bay and Wisconsin by a combined seven points. UIC lost at Wisconsin 61-57 on Nov. 21. Krystyna Ellew led UIC with 18 points, going 6-for-6 from the field and 4-for-5 from the free throw line. Jaida McCloud added 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
NIU is next in action on Saturday, Dec. 7, starting a three-game road swing at Missouri.
