DeKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois University women's tennis players Erika Dimitriev and Nataly Ninova have been named the Mid-American Conference Doubles Team of the Week, the MAC office announced Tuesday.
 
Dimitriev, a senior from Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Ninova, a sophomore from Palma de Mallorca, Spain clinched the doubles point for the NIU in its 4-3 win over Western Michigan Sunday with a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles. The duo also led Miami's Emilia Valentinsson and Sara Zalukar, 6-5, on Friday before the match was halted when the doubles point was claimed by Miami.
 
Dimitriev and Ninova won the MAC Doubles Team of the Week honor for the second time this season as they picked up the award on January 23 after defeating James Madison's 26th-ranked pair.  The Huskies are now 4-3 on the season with seven of their 14 matches together called prior to ending.
 
NIU teams have won the MAC Doubles weekly honor three times in 2024 as the Huskies' Diana Lukyanova and Isabella Righi earned the award on February 13.  The Huskies did not win a doubles team of the week award in 2023.
 
The Huskies (12-7, 1-2 MAC) return to action Friday, March 29 at Noon (CT) when they take on MAC foe Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti.
