DEKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois University Athletics, in partnership with MiniJerzeys, is launching the "Huskie Legends" line of jerseys available exclusively through the new Huskie apparel store, Victor E Threads. Each year, the legends line with feature retro uniforms of three NIU greats, beginning this season with George Bork, Jordan Lynch and Michael Turner.
The Bork jersey features a classic NIU design from the early 1960s with a red uniform and white number 11. The look evokes memories of NIU's perfect 1963 season when the Huskies went 10-0, won the Mineral Water Bowl and were crowned NCAA College Division Champions
From the historic 2012 season that saw the Huskies reach the Orange Bowl, Lynch's black uniform features the number six and "Huskies" in white block letters with red trim and red piping, along with an American flag on the left shoulder. The iconic look was worn at home throughout the season as the Huskies won their second consecutive Mid-American Conference Championship and became the first program from the conference to play in a BCS bowl game.
Turner's classic red uniform from the magical 2003 season is red with a white number 32 that includes a black drop shadow as well as the script "Huskies" across the front. The distinctive uniform recalls a special season that included victories over Maryland, Alabama and Iowa State as NIU climbed to as high as 12th in the AP Poll.
Each of the three "Huskie Legends" uniforms will be available at Victor E Threads, which will have football gameday locations in "The Yard" as well as at a kiosk on the east side of Huskie Stadium.
