WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Northern Illinois University men's golf team finished 13th at the Purdue Fall Invitational, which wrapped up play Monday at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex Kampen-Cosler Course.

Senior Felix Krammer (Waakirchen, Germany/Arkansas State) led NIU with his first top-20 finish of the season. Krammer tied for 13th with a 54-hole score of even par 216. He started the tournament Sunday morning with a three-over par 75 but bounced back in the afternoon with a 70. Krammer played the final nine holes of his second round at three-under par to move 12 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 19th. In the final round Krammer was one-over on the day through 13 holes before making two birdies to finish with a one-under 71.

After posting a team score of 302 in Sunday's first round, NIU came back with a one-over par 289 to move from 14th place up to 10th. Ben Sluzas (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) was the Huskies' low scorer in the round with a two-under par 70 to go with Krammer's 70. Freshman Jack Mulligan (Burr Ridge, Ill./Hinsdale Central) rebounded from an 86 in round one with a two-over par 74. Patrick Raupp (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect), making his debut in the NIU lineup, rounded out the scoring group with a three-over par 75.

Sluzas had his first top-30 finish of the season this week, tying for 28th place at four-over par. The senior made an eagle on the par-five 10th to start the tournament, finishing his round at one-over. He moved into the top 10 with his round of 70 in the second round and carded a 77 on Monday.

"Felix and Ben led us the entire weekend," said head coach John Carlson. "Felix hit all 14 fairways today en route to his 71. Ben was in position for a top-10 finish but ran into trouble on his 10th hole."

The Huskies had three freshmen in the lineup at Purdue. Raupp had rounds of 76, 75 and 80 to finish at +15. Mulligan was in the scoring group in both rounds two and three with a 78 on Monday. Beau Petersen (Gretna, Neb./Gretna) was also in the scoring group on Monday with a 77 and was +18 for the tournament.

NIU's 289 in the second round was the Huskies' lowest 18-hole score of the season. The Huskies finished the tournament at 30-over par, three strokes behind Western Kentucky for 12th place. Indiana won the tournament by four strokes over Miami.

Three Huskies played as individuals at the Purdue Fall Individual at the Ackerman-Allen Golf Course. Craig Long (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton) tied for sixth at two-over par with a 54-hole score of 215. Long carded a two-under par 69 in Sunday's second round. Conner McCall (Vandalia, Ill./Vandalia Community) wrapped up his weekend with a 69 on Monday, tying for ninth at three-over par. Patrick Bruminhent (Lampang, Thailand/The American School of Bangkok) tied for 13th at five-over par.

"We're still looking for the right lineup and we got closer this week to finding five Huskies that drive the ball at an elite collegiate level," Carlson said. "I'm proud of our three individuals this week. They eliminated double bogeys on the scorecard which led to three top-15 finishes".

The Huskies next play in Wisconsin's Badger Invitational Sept. 29-Oct. 1 at University Ridge Golf Course.
