DeKALB, Ill.—Ending the month of September on the road, the Northern Illinois University Huskies volleyball team (2-8) is set to begin their conference slate of game at the University of Toledo (7-5), Sept. 27-28.
The Huskies and Rockets will face off against each other at 5 p.m. CT on Sept. 27 before meeting at 3 p.m. CT on Sept. 28.
The Huskies were road warriors during the month of September, playing seven of their nine games on the road.
Previewing the Rockets
The University of Toledo opened the season on a three-game winning streak before dropping their next three games. Toledo dropped their last two games, falling 2-3 to South Dakota State and 1-3 to Idaho State.
The Huskies hold a 51-16 series lead over the Rockets, although the Rockets have claimed five of the last eight meetings.
Looking at the Toledo numbers, Taylor Alt leads the Rockets with 3.77 kills per set and 166 total kills this season. Alt is second in the Mid-American Conference for this stat. Izzy Granger and Sierra Pertzborn average over 2 kills per set, sitting at 2.89 and 2.05 respectively.
Grace Freiberger is recording 3.78 digs per set for 151 digs this season to lead the defensive efforts for the Rockets. Pertzborn averages 1.00 blocks per set (42 total blocks) to lead Toledo while Anna Alford is averaging 0.97 blocks per set. Both are in the top-10 in the MAC for blocks.

Crew Hoffmeier (Louisville, Ky./Assumption) leads the Mid-American Conference in digs per set with 5.36. Hoffmeier is ranked fifth among all-active NCAA Division I volleyball players for digs per set. Hoffmeier has seen action in 42 sets for the Huskies with 225 digs per set, landing in second for total digs in the conference.
As a team, the Huskies are fourth in team attacks per set, averaging 39.64.
Looking at the Huskie Numbers
Charli Atiemo (Milford, Mich./Farmington Hills Mercy) is third in the conference in hitting percentage, sitting at .364.
Nazli Güvener (Ankara, Turkey/Elvankent Sinar), Atiemo, and
Ava Grevengoed (Shorewood, Ill./Joliet West) lead the Huskies offensively. Güvener leads all Huskies with 3.06 kills per set while Grevengoed and Atiemo sit at 2.90 and 2.76 kills per set respectively.
Grevengoed is third in the MAC for aces per set at 0.45 and fifth for total aces with 17.
Sophie Hurt (Elmhurst, Ill./IC Catholic Prep) leads the team with 5.83 assists per set and is No. 10 in the conference for assists per set, with 6.00.
Rylea Alvin (Randolph, Wis./Randolph) is leading the team with .82 blocks per set and is tied with Atiemo with 28 total blocks this season.
