DEKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University men's basketball team makes the short trip to Kalamazoo, Mich., on Tuesday (Jan. 21) as the Huskies visit Western Michigan. Tipoff against the Broncos is slated for 6 p.m. CT and the contest will be available on ESPN+ and WDKB 94-9 FM.
Last time out against Central Michigan, the Huskies made 13 triples, one shy of tying the school record.
Quaran McPherson (South Jamaica Queens, N.Y./Link Year Prep) led the way with a career-high five threes, scoring a game-high 22 points.
McPherson is ranked ninth in the Mid-American Conference in three-point percentage, shooting 41.3 percent.
As a team, NIU has made 10-plus triples nine times this season, including five of the last six games
and each of the last three.

Quentin Jones (Chicago, Ill./Marian Catholic) is averaging 19.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists. For the season, Jones ranks fourth in the MAC in scoring (15.9 ppg), 12th in assists (3.2 apg), 14th in free throw percentage (76 percent) and tied for sixth in blocks (0.94 bpg).
The Broncos come into Tuesday's game with a 4-13 overall record, 1-4 in league play. Western Michigan is 2-6 at home and is coming off an 85-76 setback against Buffalo. Western Michigan ranks second in the MAC in rebounding margin at +4.76 and second in rebounds per game at 38.7 per contest. Chansey Willis Jr. is the leading scorer for the Broncos at 16.0 points per game.
Last season, WMU topped NIU, 95-90, in overtime in Kalamazoo (Jan. 9, 2024) in the lone meeting between the two teams. The Bronco win snapped a three-game Huskie win streak in the series, which included a pair of victories in Kalamazoo.
