DeKALB, IL – The Northern Illinois University women's basketball team reaches the midway point of Mid-American Conference play Wednesday night as the Central Michigan Chippewas come to the NIU Convocation Center. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.

NIU (8-11, 2-6 MAC) split its two games last week, winning 78-70 at Eastern Michigan last Wednesday before an 81-62 loss to MAC leaders Ball State on Saturday. Graduate forward
Brooke Stonebraker (Versailles, Ohio/Versailles) led NIU with 17 points, eight rebounds, three blocks and three steals. It was the third time in the last four games Stonebraker scored in double figures. She is third in the MAC in blocks at 1.1 per game and sixth in rebounding at 7.1 per game.
Chelby Koker (Racine, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) had a game-high five assists against Ball State. It was her 10
th game this season with at least five assists. Koker has 11 assists against only three turnovers in the last two games. She enters Wednesday's game with 399 career assists, one away from becoming the fifth player in NIU women's basketball history to reach 400. Koker is already among the top-10 players in program history in points with 1,726 and free throws made with 365.
NIU has won three of the last four meetings against Central Michigan including each of the last two in DeKalb. The Huskies shot 44.3 percent from the field last year in a 70-57 win over the Chippewas, outrebounding Central Michigan by 10 42-32.
Brooke Blumenfeld (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) led NIU with 18 points as Stonebraker had a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Central Michigan (8-11, 4-4 MAC) has won three of its last four games after an 81-70 win at Western Michigan last Saturday. The Chippewas shot 54.2 percent from the field and outrebounded the Broncos 42-20. Madi Morson led CMU with 25 points as Ayanna Darrington had a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds. Morson leads the Chippewas in scoring at 14.3 points per game. CMU leads the MAC with 15.4 offensive rebounds per game and is second in rebounding at 41.63 per game.
The Huskies go on the road on Saturday, Feb. 1 to face the Buffalo Bulls at 1 p.m. CT.
