DeKALB, Ill. -- Three members of the Northern Illinois University Huskies volleyball team (10-8, 3-6 MAC) recorded double-doubles as the Huskies fell in action to the Rockets of the University of Toledo (16-5, 7-2 MAC) in a five-set battle. Three of the five sets featured extra points as the Huskies posted set scores of 30-28, 28-26, 19-25, 21-25, and 19-21.
Ava Grevengoed (Shorewood, Ill./Joliet West) marked her seventh double-double of the season, 20th overall as
Emma McCartney (Cleveland, Ohio/Chadron) marked her third career double-double. McCartney's 20 kills led all players as she matched her career-best in kills and digs (17).
Kylie Schulze (Wonder Lake, Ill./Woodstock North) had her fourth double-double of the season as she led the Huskies with 28 assists, a career-best.
"Huge turnaround from yesterday. The sting that is felt is because they worked hard to beat a top team (in the league). We can compete with the best and we were right there," said
Sondra D'Amore, NIU Head Coach. "We were in system a lot more and cleaned up the serve-and-pass game. If we can continue to play with that level of intention and belief, the future is bright."
