LONG BEACH, Calif. – Northern Illinois University men's soccer freshman
Vance Sheffield (West Linn, Ore./La Salle Catholic College Prep) is ranked 32nd on the Top Drawer Soccer Freshman Top 100 list, which was announced by the publication on Friday, Oct. 17.
Sheffield is one of four Huskies to have started all 12 matches this season and is tied for the team lead with
Katai Mukuka (Lusaka, Zambia) with 12 points. Sheffield's five goals are tied for the seventh-most by a freshman in the country this season and his 12 points are tied for eighth-best among freshmen nationally.
The West Linn, Ore. native is the second-highest ranked freshman in the Missouri Valley Conference on the list, behind UIC's Daniel Zepeda who is ranked 24th.
Sheffield and the Huskies are currently on a five-match unbeaten streak and are in a three-way tie for second in the Missouri Valley Conference standings. NIU will host Notre Dame on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 6 p.m. as the Fighting Irish make their first appearance in DeKalb since 1994. Admission to all Huskie soccer games is free of charge.
